The Hidden Emotions

Isn’t it wonderful when the sun shines after so much rain and cold. People smile more, they’re out and about in parks, gardens, shopping and eating ice-cream, drinking with friends and family and just enjoying life in the sun.

Well . . . People are, but what about you? You’re a person too but what if you don’t feel happy, don’t have friends or family. What if you’re troubled by something too deep for the “sun” to reach. What if your smile has faded a long time ago?

You are NOT alone. So many others feel the same as you. Don’t feel you have to be happy just because you don’t want to bring others down. Sometimes that first conversation is the best therapy you can give yourself. Let’s talk and let the sunshine in.

Do you love me?

Heard of the phrase “Are we having fun yet”? How often have you sat in despair over a relationship which simply drains your energy but you hang on because you ‘love’ that person.

But think about it… A relationship, be it with a partner, friend or even family member should bring joy, contentment and a connection which benefits both parties. A bad relationship can destroy your self esteem and crush you emotionally. Of course all relationships have their ups and downs but the ability to work through the hard times is based on the connection you have through the good times. It’s hard, sometimes almost impossible to have that clarity of mind to see that there is no fun, no joy, no mutual benefit in a relationship. That you are the only one giving, and all you receive in return is anxiety and emotional turmoil. If you worry about your relationship on a regular basis you need to reassess where it’s going and how it’s affecting you. R.E.B.T (Rational Emotional Behaviour Therapy) can help you see things in perspective.

Love is a VERY powerful emotion and can leave you feeling out of control and completely dependent on a destructive situation. Talk about it and you will see the way forward. After all, everyone deserves to be cared for… I can help.

Value your worth!

Building confidence Against Workplace Bullies

I was talking to a friend today about an interview he’d had and starting a new job. I remembered how nerve-wracking it is meeting new people as an adult. How joining an established ‘team’ leaves you feeling exposed and vulnerable. It’s great if it works out but I also remember situations in the past when that feeling didn’t go away. Of course we can’t all get on with everyone but what if you feel picked on or maybe a group of people leave you out, talk behind your back, or involve you but make nasty comments under the guise of being friendly…. Make no mistake, this is bullying. While childhood bullying is one of the issues now being addressed more openly, being bullied as an adult is still a sadly taboo subject leaving victims at risk of depression and suicidal thoughts. It can happen at work, your neighborhood, your relationship or even from family members.

Adults feel they should be able to stand up for themselves and often feel ashamed of being bullied but be assured you MUST NOT tolerate such behaviour. No one should feel victimised or made to be afraid by anyone, ever. Talking to someone is the hardest but most positive step you can make toward freeing yourself. You deserve better and to be respected for who you are. Please talk to a friend, family, colleague, and if you can’t, talk to me…

Love who you are

It’s dark when you wake, it’s dark mid afternoon, it’s dark in your head. SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) makes the whole World dark and grey.  It’s well named. That sadness, hopelessness and inability to feel enthusiastic about anything is no joke. Do you feel empty at the start of each day, just drained and waiting for it all to feel the same again tomorrow? If winter gets you down then you have SAD.

Believe me you CAN beat the depression and gloomy feelings sparked by the winter (and let’s face it, in England almost half the year is winter!

Give me a call and I’ll help you smile your way to Springtime. Make that change! Hypnotherapy in Huddersfield can bring you light back into the shadows again.

Warmest Regards,
Julia

Outside The Box

Looking back at this last week, month, year or lifetime, how many times have you truly shown people who you are inside? I think we all carefully protect our real selves on a daily basis. It’s fine! We didn’t always do it, we learned by experience that complete openness can leave us vulnerable. As we grow we do it to find our way through life with as little stress as possible, to lessen the risk of disappointment and disillusionment … BUT, if that natural and learned ‘protection’ has mentally built a cage you can’t leave, then it’s stopping you getting the most out of life.

Trust and openness takes years to build and seconds to destroy, Perceived betrayals by friends, family, colleagues and sometimes just your own expectations of how life should be, can hold you back from enjoying your full potential.

But, could it be that reaching out isn’t such an impossible task? What if you’ve locked your ‘cage’ so firmly that no one is reaching YOU? And what if we open the door again? Don’t let fear keep it closed.

A combination of Rational Emotional Behaviour Therapy and Hypnotherapy can open that door and set you free again. Beginning with small steps until you finally say ‘Hey World, this is me and I’m ready to be myself’! Give me a call and we’ll break down those bars for good, with confidence!

Stay safe and warm

Student Life

Student life! Well, it’s a lot of reading, a bit of writing, messing about on the computer, loads of parties and a cracking job for life at the end… Isn’t it?

I was a once a degree student at Huddersfield and it wasn’t like that even then. Students tell me of being homesick in a new town, worrying about debt, workload and feeling out of their depth. Some even wonder how they ended up on the roller-coaster of College/University life in the first place. This can be coupled with dealing with a home and family for mature students which adds even more pressure.

Day to day anxieties about fitting in with your peers and making your parents proud can be crushing if you have noone to talk to. Counselling within the education sector has long waiting lists but you need someone NOW. Here’s where I can help..

Practicing Hypnotherapy in Huddersfield, combined with counselling and Emotional Behaviour Therapy I give continuous STUDENT DISCOUNTS. I strongly believe that as a past (and continuing professional development) student it’s hard enough already without being unable to afford the help you need, at the time of your life you may need it most. I will do my best to fit in our meetings around your studies and am open 6 days a week including evenings.

Reach for the stars is a cliche you’ll probably hear a lot, but if you reach out for help first, you’ll doubtless get there! Give me a call and make your student years the best time of your life.

Insomnia Sucks!

How many problems that keep you awake at night are actually practical ones? Did your car break down today? Have a swarm of wasps moved into your loft for the winter? (yikes! Fair enough I’ll give you that one!) But seriously, over 85% of all worry and anxiety is emotional. We FEEL it. It hurts our hearts, it shakes our security and goes around and around in our heads as if it’s searching for an escape, desperately seeking a way out.

If you can’t afford long term counselling but need to work through a solution with real, non judgemental coping strategies why not call for a chat about hypnotherapy. Sometimes only one session is necessary but if you need more time, a combination of counselling, Hypnotherapy and Rational Emotional Behaviour Therapy can stop the carousel of life affecting worries from continuing. I’m a Hypnotherapist in Huddersfield, here to listen and help… After all, in giving me a call you have nothing to lose and peace of mind to gain.

Be kind to yourself

What About The Guys?

Social media is a strange and often biased place to be. Every day there is a new post asking us to like and share if we have an awesome Mum, Sister, Daughter or Grandma. Posts asking us to like and share the Mums who go above and beyond for their children. We share about the concerns, abuses and unfairness toward women and we celebrate the rights of women to be free-spirited and be valued.

BUT, what about the guys? The men who suffer, who are sidelined in a society which simply assumes they’re all OK, that life as a man is somehow privileged and devoid of worry. Well men DO worry. They worry about health or becoming a new Dad, they worry about work and relationships. They worry about retirement and feeling undervalued. And they cry… Often silently and alone, feeling they can’t reach out because society says they shouldn’t need to. I mean after all, men are tough aren’t they?

A man often has concerns unique to him such as vasectomy worries, baldness and self-esteem, maybe being the breadwinner as a single Father or if Mum is taking care of the children…and he feels ‘less of a man’ if he expresses these worries aloud.

If this is you, I can help. Men matter and at Finally Free Therapies NO problem is a problem, you can talk in a friendly space knowing there is help ready and waiting.

I’m a Hypnotherapist in Huddersfield. Guys, call for me for a chat about what matters to YOU.
